Although the 277-horsepower diesel engine falls short in straight-line performance compared to the conventional V-8, some purchasers find that the sacrifice is worthwhile due to the increased fuel efficiency and robust 460 lb-ft of low-end torque. Only the V will satisfy the speed-hungry Cadillac XTS fanatics.

At our test track, the enormous SUV reached 60 mph in a mere 4.3 seconds, thanks to its powerful supercharged 6.2-liter V-8 engine that produces 682 horsepower. Both the power and the baritone burble of the V-8 pleased us. With all-wheel drive, your XTS’s highway MPG lowers to 19 mpg.
